Stock
Re-finishing
During this
process the gun woodwork will be stripped of its current finish and the
wood cleaned to remove old oils and dirt which have normally been
accumulated and absorbed over time. All chequering will be cleaned and
marked out so that the correct pattern is reapplied later
The
woodwork will be then be refinished in traditional oil methods to suit the
style of gun and its nature, colour and grain of the wood. Chequering will
be re-cut by hand to ensure that a new clean grip is both crisp and suited
to the style of the gun
All
furniture of the gun will be removed and the action and components cleaned
and inspected. Any potential problems will be noted and reported so that
immediate action can be taken if required. We advise that the furniture
will be re-blued and pins re-coloured so that the metalwork complements
the newly refreshed woodwork |

Stock Lengthening and
Shortening
Where a stock extension has
been requested the new wood being offered up will be matched up as best as
possible to try and have some continuity between the grain and colour of
the stock and the extension block. The extension will be fitted and
finished to match the finish of the gun. In shortening and lengthening we
are happy to finish the heel with chequering, a plate or pad

Engraving
We have the services of a
time-served gun engraver who will be happy to undertake any engraving from
the cutting of a new pin or oval to the complete engraving of a gun. This
work also includes gold inlay, game scene engraving and the enhancement of
old engraving patterns

Stock Blanks
Although we carry a
small selection of stock blanks, we have access to a very large selection of
the finest Turkish and French walnut blanks. This supply of blanks is also
relied upon by some of the most prestigious gunmakers in Britain to stock
their new best guns
All stock blanks are hand
picked in Turkey and France by our buyer who is very well informed in the
qualities required of a blank to make a good stock. All blanks are
guaranteed air dried - not boiled or kiln dried. Alternatively,
customers are welcome to supply their own blanks but this is dependent on
quality, suitability and size
